Freshfields’ Reena Parmar recognised by INvolve for leadership in advancing disability and neurodiversity inclusion

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) global transactions counsel Reena Parmar has been listed in the Enable Role Model List 2023 for leadership in advancing disability and neurodiversity inclusion.

Announced today by Involve, which works with businesses to drive positive and sustainable growth through inclusion, the global list recognises twenty exceptional role models in business leading the charge for inclusion within the disability, mental health, and neurodiversity spaces.

Parmar said: “It is an honour to be recognised in the Enable Role Model List, and to see enhanced awareness of the importance of advancing disability and neurodiversity inclusion. It’s crucial to bring together our lived experiences of disability for mutual support, to promote disability as a key part of the diversity and inclusion agenda, and to drive ways in which the workplace can be more supportive of our community.”

Alongside a legal career as a debt capital market specialist, Parmar has her own non-visible disabilities, and is parent to two neurodivergent teenagers and carer for a disabled parent.

She is passionate about equity, diversity and inclusion and a vocal advocate for disability and neuro-inclusion. Reena is the appointed chair of the Law Society of England & Wales Disabled Solicitors Network, and she is a founding member and former co-chair of Freshfields Enabled UK, the firm’s disability employee network. Reena is also a senior business services mentor, and a trained Mental Health First Aider.

Founder & CEO of INvolve, Suki Sandhu OBE, said: “I am excited to share INvolve’s first ever Enable Role Model List supported by HSBC. This list showcases twenty exceptional, global role models in business, who are going above and beyond to drive inclusion within the disability, neurodiversity and mental health spaces. It’s so vital to have trailblazing role models who we can all look towards for inspiration and guidance, and this group of twenty are working hard to dismantle barriers that impede progression and equality within business and beyond.

“Organizations must do more to ensure everyone is able to achieve career success. Our Enable Role Models provide fantastic insights gained from their vast personal and professional experiences that  business leaders across the world can use when implementing their own ambitious goals for change.”
