Bas is an associate in the Restructuring & Insolvency team in our firm's Amsterdam office and joined the firm in 2019.
Bas regularly advised companies, sponsors and other financial institutions on a wide variety of special situations, (debt) restructurings and distressed (M&A) transactions. Bas is a lawyer (advocaat), admitted to the bar in the Netherlands in 2019.
Before joining the Restructuring & Insolvency team, Bas was part of Freshfields' M&A and Private Equity team for over four years. During this time, Bas was seconded to the M&A team of Cargill.

- Advising the restructuring expert in the Dutch restructuring proceedings (WHOA) of McDermott
- Advising HAL Investments on the acquisition of IQIP and financial restructuring of Royal IHC through the Dutch Scheme (WHOA)
- Advising Getronics on its restructuring and sale to GSH Private Capital
- Advising the security holder in relation to the enforcement sale of the Intertoys business
His recent M&A experience includes:
- Advising IK Partners on its proposed acquisition of GoodLife Foods, a leading European manufacturer of frozen snacks with over 700 employees and six production sites in the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark
- Advising KLAR Partners on its proposed investment as a growth partner in hallo, which is leading Dutch provider of mission-critical IT services for SMEs
- Advising IK Partners on its proposed acquisition of IG&H, a leading consulting firm and a market leader in complex end-to-end digital transformation
- Advising GIC and APG on the agreement to acquire a substantial stake in The Student Hotel
- Advising Macquarie Asset Management on its investment in and strategic partnership with EDGE
- Advising Goldman Sachs on its EUR 1.7b acquisition of NN Investment Partners
- Advising Hexion Inc. on its USD 1.2b sale of its global epoxy business to Westlake Chemical Corporation
- Advising Ardian on its acquisition of Deli Home, a leading Dutch manufacturer and distributor of home improvement products
- Advising IK Partners on its sale of VPS to Fremman Capital
- Advising CVC Strategic Opportunities on its EUR 362.5m acquisition of a 50% stake in DFE Pharma
- Advising PGGM on its early stage minority investment in SCW Systems
Bas is a lawyer (advocaat) and admitted to the Amsterdam Bar since 2019. He studies Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam and graduated from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in corporate law.
