Client successes
Advising AB InBev on its £78.4bn acquisition of SABMiller.
Advising Comcast on its acquisition of Sky.
Advising Barwa Bank on its merger with International Bank of Qatar.
We advised Barwa Bank in Qatar, a sharia-compliant financial institution, on its merger with International Bank of Qatar (IBQ), a financial institution that undertakes conventional banking activities.
The deal created a leading sharia-compliant financial institution with total assets of more than $22bn, and was the first bank merger to take place in Qatar since the introduction of the new Qatari commercial companies law in 2015.
This landmark transaction sets a unique precedent for sharia-compliant financial institutions in the region considering potential mergers as part of the recent move towards bank consolidation.
Advising Merck on the sale of its global consumer health business to Procter & Gamble for approximately €3.4bn cash.
Advising HOCHTIEF on its offer for – and later its part in the three-way acquisition of – Spanish toll road operator Abertis.
